The President of the Republic, Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, had talks on Tuesday at the city of N’sele with a delegation of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), led by Mr. Mauricio Villafuerte, advisor to the Africa Department.
According to Mr. Mauricio Villafuerte, the purpose of this meeting was to make an assessment and an inventory of the economy, macroeconomic policy and prospects in the medium and long term and analyze the plan in the domain of public resources.
He added that they also discussed with the Head of State issues related to how the IMF should accompany the DRC in its efforts to revive its economy.
He stated that his delegation had prepared a report for its Governing Board, with a view to making recommendations for the future, particularly with regard to technical and financial assistance based on field work.
For the IMF senior official, his delegation is working on managing the economic, fiscal and debt policy that is his specialty. He added, “The key challenge of the Congolese government is to increase revenue and financial resources,” he said
