Inflation at the end of April is 0.370% at the national level and 0.288% in Kinshasa, says the National Institute of Statistics (INS) in a statement received Saturday at the ACP.
According to this release, the weekly inflation from 22 to 27 April 2019 was 0.084% at the national level and 0.092% in Kinshasa. In aggregate, this inflation reached 1.356% at the national level and 1.411% in Kinshasa. On an annualized basis, it stands at 4.206% nationally and 4.379% in Kinshasa. Year on year, inflation is 4,800% at the national level and 4,284% in Kinshasa.
According to the INS, this inflation is due to the slight increase in prices for meat, oils and fats, vegetables and home furnishings. . However, it should be noted that the exchange rate of the Congolese franc remained stable on the parallel market, while on the interbank the Congolese franc appreciated against the US dollar, rising from 1,638 to 1,636 FC, the week under examination.
