The delegation, he added, discussed with the Head of State all these questions, before reassuring him that they are ready to accompany him in all his development projects. To a question, he replied that in the field of aeronautics, the ADB financed work at the N’Djili airport in Kinshasa while in the water sector and sanitation ADB has funded a major project in Tshikapa, Kasai. The AfDB has also approved another social project, which involves taking children out of cobalt mines, with a view to moving them to school environments, he concluded. Established in 1964, the African Development Bank is the first pan-African development institution.
Its mission is to promote economic growth and social progress throughout the continent. The Bank has 80 member countries, including 54 African countries (regional member countries). The Bank’s Development Program aims to provide financial and technical support to transformative projects that will significantly reduce poverty through inclusive and sustainable economic growth in Africa.
In order to focus more on the objectives of the Ten-Year Strategy (2013-2022) and achieve a greater development impact, five major areas in which interventions will need to intensify for Africa have been identified, namely: energy, agribusiness, industrialization, integration and improvement of the quality of life of African populations. The Bank intends to form a management team that will lead the effective implementation of this vision.
