On the sidelines of Etienne Tshisekedi’s funeral, Félix Tshisekedi, Paul Kagame and João Lourenço held a meeting on strengthening cooperation ties between the three countries.
It is in the presidential residence of N’sele that the Congolese head of state, Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi received his two counterparts from Rwanda, Paul Kagame and Angola João Lourenço. It was part of a tripartite meeting this Friday, May 31, 2019 in the morning.
According to a tweet from the presidency of the Republic, this tripartite focused on regional cooperation and the strengthening of the Congo-Angola-Rwanda (CAR) axis. It was preceded by a tête-à-tête Tshisekedi-Kagame. On the menu, security and economic issues including the DRC’s accession to the East African Economic Community.
The three heads of state took advantage of the funeral of Etienne Tshisekedi, whose body arrived Thursday, May 30 in Kinshasa after his death 28 months ago.
Denis Sassou Nguesso of the Republic of Congo, Faure Gnassingbe of Togo and Apha Condé of Guinea are also expected to attend the funeral of the ideological and biological father of the new president of the DRC.
